Endangered Species – Triptych for WWF Polska

Rodolfo Liprandi

Rodolfo Liprandi is an Italian-born sculptor based in Warsaw whose practice explores the relationship between humans, landscapes, and ecological processes. Born in Friuli Venezia Giulia and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, he has developed a body of work grounded in environmental art and site-specific interventions. Since 2018, Liprandi has participated in international residencies and public art projects, collaborating with municipalities, nature reserves, and cultural organizations across Europe. Working primarily with natural materials gathered on site – branches, trunks, and shrubs – he creates sculptures that respond directly to local ecosystems and are designed to weather, decay, and eventually return to the earth.

His project “Endangered Species – Triptych for WWF Polska”, created in collaboration with WWF Polska, celebrates biodiversity through three sculptures dedicated to the Eurasian lynx, the gray seal, and the pygmy owl. Inspired by the idea of building a future in which humans live in harmony with nature, the works combine artistic expression with conservation and education. Constructed from locally collected branches, the sculptures evoke both the fragility and resilience of the species they represent, while drawing attention to the habitats on which they depend.

The triptych resonates strongly with rewilding principles. By giving physical form to threatened animals and situating the works within living environments, Liprandi emphasizes the importance of restoring ecological processes and allowing nature to reclaim space. His approach highlights that rewilding is not only about ecological recovery but also about cultural transformation – encouraging people to reconnect emotionally and symbolically with the natural world.

Through these temporary, evolving sculptures, Rodolfo Liprandi invites viewers to reflect on coexistence, reminding us that conservation begins with awareness and a renewed sense of responsibility toward the ecosystems we share.
